In the heart of a forgotten library, where time is measured by the ticking of precision mechanisms and the scent of ancient parchment, a timeless figure writes the first chapter of a never-ending story. At Roselle Gallery, we are thrilled to present "El origen" (The Origin) by Carlos Guzmán, an invitation to explore the foundations of wisdom and the essence of our own nature.
"El origen" is a masterful artwork that defies the boundaries of time and style. With a technique that evokes the richness of medieval illuminated manuscripts and the boldness of contemporary surrealism, Guzmán presents us with a seeker of knowledge dressed in a gold-embroidered blue doublet and striped tights. Upon their headdress, a complex clockwork and observation mechanism—featuring magnifying glasses and an integrated clock—functions as an extension of their observing mind. It is a precision engine measuring time in its relentless task of defining the essential.
In their hands, an open manuscript reveals the geometric diagram of a wolf, the "king of the forest," intertwined with alchemical and astrological symbols. The opposing page contains an illuminated text in an ancient tongue: "el rey del bosque se llama..." (the king of the forest is called...). With a quill in hand and a faithful domestic dog resting on their lap, the scribe prepares to complete the phrase, to define the essence of the wild, and to find the origin of a legend.
