CURATORIAL NOTE
THE EXHIBITION
Rather than illustrating Borges, the exhibition invites his literary universe to be reinterpreted through the visual languages of contemporary Latin American artists.
Time, memory, identity, infinity, labyrinths, and the shifting boundary between reality and imagination emerge not as literal representations, but as points of departure—transformed through each artist’s own visual language, experience, and sensibility.
Through these works, literature and painting enter into dialogue, opening new ways of approaching Borges beyond the written page.

Presented as part of the Argentine-Latin American Film & Art Festival at Nova Southeastern University, Borges, Reimagined brings contemporary Latin American art into dialogue with literature, cinema, and cultural thought.
Conceived within the Festival’s tribute to Jorge Luis Borges, the presentation brings together works by Esteban Machado Díaz, Ileana Mulet, and Carlos Guzmán, each approaching the writer’s extraordinary universe through an independent visual language.
