Ileana Mulet Batista’s practice moves between painting, drawing, design, and literature, creating a visual language in which the city becomes a space of memory, imagination, and poetic transformation. Urban landscape particularly Havana and its historic architecture has remained a central presence throughout her work.

Her compositions transform streets, buildings, figures, and fragments of the colonial city into expressive and often imagined environments. Rather than approaching landscape as a literal representation of place, Mulet uses color, gesture, texture, and symbolic elements to evoke the emotional experience of inhabiting and remembering the city.

Painting and poetry maintain a close dialogue within her practice. Her visual and literary work frequently intersect, allowing words and images to become complementary forms of expression. Through this relationship, Mulet constructs an intensely personal vision of the urban landscape in which history, femininity, memory, and imagination coexist.
