Inspired by the literary universe of Jorge Luis Borges, Carlos Guzmán proposes that true vision does not arise solely from sight, but from our capacity to remember, create, and discover new meanings.
Within the composition, Borges, imagination, the written word, nature, and a young reader coexist across different symbolic territories. Together, they form an invisible network through which thought survives time and finds new ways to exist.
01 — MEMORY
THE LABYRINTH OF TIME
The elderly figure of Jorge Luis Borges represents a man who has traveled through the labyrinth of time and finds in thought his deepest form of freedom.
His presence evokes memory not as something fixed in the past, but as an active territory—one that is continually revisited, transformed, and given new meaning.
Around him, pathways, mechanisms, and connections suggest the hidden routes through which memory travels, linking experience, knowledge, and imagination.
02 — THE READER
BETWEEN PAST AND FUTURE
The young reader establishes a bridge between past and future. Through her, literature becomes an act of continuity: every book read allows the voice of its author to travel beyond its own time.
Her presence introduces another generation into the composition. Borges’s memory does not remain confined to the past; it is encountered, interpreted, and renewed through the act of reading.
The book therefore becomes more than an object. It is a threshold through which memory passes from one person to another, keeping thought alive across generations.
03 — IMAGINATION
THE CREATIVE FORCE
The female figure embodies imagination as a creative force—the capacity to give form to what remains invisible.
Part human and part mechanical, she brings nature, invention, and thought into the same symbolic body. The mechanisms surrounding her suggest the hidden connections through which memory and imagination continually transform one another.
The bird she protects symbolizes the word: fragile and free, yet capable of traveling across time and generations. Through it, thought can leave its origin behind and acquire new life in the imagination of others.

Above Borges, a delicate structure holds a butterfly a symbol of the constant transformation of ideas.
Around it, mechanisms, lines, and connections evoke the hidden pathways through which memory travels and thought evolves. What begins as an idea may pass from one mind to another, changing as it moves while preserving an essential connection to its origin.
Nature and mechanics coexist within this network, suggesting that creation is never isolated. Memory, imagination, knowledge, and experience remain connected within an invisible system in which thought does not disappear it finds new forms in which to exist.
