Alicia de la Campa Pak’s practice encompasses painting, drawing, printmaking, and illustration, with the female figure occupying a central place within her visual language. Through the body, she develops reflections on identity, history, society, mythology, utopia, and the complex relationship between individual experience and cultural memory.

Drawing is fundamental to her creative process, functioning both as a point of departure and as an expressive language in its own right. Her figures inhabit ambiguous and often timeless environments where references to Cuban culture encounter broader traditions of Western art, creating compositions that move between the intimate, the symbolic, and the surreal.

Across different bodies of work, De la Campa Pak constructs a personal iconography in which femininity, beauty, vulnerability, transformation, and imagination continually intersect. Rather than presenting fixed narratives, her images invite multiple readings, transforming the human figure into a space for exploring both personal and collective experience.

BIOGRAPHY

Alicia de la Campa Pak (b. 1966, Havana, Cuba) is a Cuban painter, draftswoman, printmaker, and illustrator whose career has developed across studio practice, education, and illustration. She graduated from the San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts in Havana in 1985 and later earned a degree in Visual Arts Education from the Enrique José Varona Higher Pedagogical Institute in 1990.

Alongside her artistic practice, De la Campa Pak maintained an important commitment to education. From 1990 to 1993, she taught at the Enrique José Varona Higher Pedagogical Institute, and from 1993 to 2003 she served as a professor of painting at the San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts. She is a member of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC).

Her work has been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Cuba and internationally, with projects and exhibitions in the United States, Mexico, Spain, Italy, South Korea, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Japan, and other international contexts. Her exhibition history includes presentations associated with the Havana Biennial as well as exhibitions at galleries, museums, cultural institutions, and international art events.

Her works are held in private collections across the United States, Canada, Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, Slovakia, South Korea, Japan, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Chile, Panama, Cuba, and elsewhere. Throughout her career, De la Campa Pak has sustained a multidisciplinary practice in which drawing remains a foundational language, connecting painting, printmaking, illustration, and her continuing exploration of the feminine, identity, memory, and imagination.
